Implant retained dentures in Colchester
If your denture slips when you eat, clicks when you talk, or has stopped fitting since you got it, an implant retained denture solves the problem. Two to four implants hold the denture firmly in place. You take it out to clean, you click it back in to wear. No glue, no slipping, no embarrassing moments at dinner.
Dr Andrew Fennell has placed over 7,000 implants in 20 years at Love Implants. He’ll meet you at the free consultation, take a free CT scan, and tell you in plain English whether an implant retained denture is the right answer for your case.

What an implant retained denture actually is.
An implant retained denture is a removable denture that clicks onto two to four implants placed in your jaw. The implants are small titanium screws fused with the bone. The denture has matching attachments built into the underside. You push the denture into place to wear it. You pull it out to clean it. The implants hold it steady so it doesn’t slip when you eat or move when you talk. It feels solid in a way a traditional denture never can. It’s not the same as All-on-4, where the replacement teeth are fixed permanently onto four implants and don’t come out. The implant retained denture is removable. The All-on-4 is not. Different patients prefer different routes for different reasons. Andrew will explain both at the consultation.
When an implant retained denture is the right choice.
You've worn dentures and you're frustrated with how they fit (or don't).
You don't want a fully fixed solution like All-on-4 (you prefer being able to remove the denture to clean it).
You'd rather replace a full arch with two to four implants than with six or eight individual implants and crowns.
You have enough bone in your jaw to anchor the implants (the free CT scan confirms this, and where there isn't enough, bone grafting is done in-house).
For some patients, an implant retained denture is the most sensible answer because it balances cost, function, and the practicalities of cleaning. For others, All-on-4 is a better fit. Andrew will explain which suits your case.
What happens during treatment.
1. Free consultation with Andrew. Meet the dentist who'll be doing the work. He examines your mouth, looks at your existing denture if you have one, and walks through your options.
2. Free CT scan. A 3D scan shows the bone, nerve positions, and exactly where the implants should go.
3. Treatment plan and accurate cost. You see the whole plan, the timing, and the price before committing.
4. Implant placement. Two to four implants placed in your jaw. The exact number depends on your case.
5. Healing. The implants integrate with the bone over a few months. You wear your existing denture (or a temporary one) during this time.
6. Denture fitted with attachments. Your final denture is made with the attachments built in. It clicks securely onto the implants.
Most cases take three to six months from start to finish.
What does an implant retained denture cost?
Implant retained dentures at Love Implants cost roughly half the UK average.
Pricing depends on:
- How many implants are needed (typically two for a lower denture, four for an upper).
- Whether bone grafting or sinus lift work is required.
- Whether you need a new denture or your existing one can be adapted.
- The materials chosen for the final denture.

Book a free consultation with Andrew. He’ll examine your mouth, listen to your concerns about your existing denture, and tell you what the best route is. If a fully fixed solution is a better fit, you’ll hear about All-on-4. If only a few teeth are missing rather than a full arch, options like an implant supported bridge or multiple individual implants may make more sense.
